After spending a long day at the 2007 Miramar Air Show, we jumped on the freeway heading home around sunset. We got to the 805 x 5 freeway interchange and traffic STOPPED. Gah! We decided to get off the freeway and head down to the beach to shoot the sunset. After a little exploring we happened onto
Soledad Lagoon (google map). What a beautiful place this was! A small lazy stream of water hits the ocean here and divides the beach in two. There were only a handful of other people on the beach, they were all very nice, in fact I hadn't even made it to the sand (a short walk!) when I was approached twice about leaving my headlights on.
We only spent about 30 minutes down there, just enough time to see the sun slip away. I was able to get some nice pictures. I'm not the only one one thinks this place is nice place, check out the picture from flickr and the painting from Tony Peters

Painter Tony Peters even painted this area
