LAS CHIVAS!!

Viva las chivas!! The goats on the hill that is, not the FC.

On the way to the water court for lunch today, we passed bunker hill and were met with the site of a bunch of goats ranging in the grass on the hillside. That's a hell of a site in downtown LA.

Turns out the city of LA hired a goat herder to bring about a hundred of these guys and girls (he said they were all castrated and fixed for some reason) to clear the hillside of long, dead, brown grass and that it's cheaper and cleaner than hiring a guy to come with weed wackers or mowers.

I definitely like the idea, the goats didn't seem to mind and seemed to be treated well, no HIGHLY polluting 2 stroke engines wailing through the day, no exploited workers/imigration criminals (pick your side) and the biggest benefit was clear, the public LOVED the goats. Every time I saw that intersection, I saw men, women, police, children, media, every size, race, suits, homeless people etc, coming up and scratching the goats heads, feeding them grass and have a really good time with smiles on their faces. Hard to beat that. Oh, did I mention it was 73 degrees with a nice breeze? Good day in Los Angeles. :)
